MEDIA RELEASE: MakingImages commissioned to photograph the historic Auchlochan estate

MakingImages – Photography by John Joannides has been commissioned to photograph the historic Scottish estate of Auchlochan. Originally built in 1656, the Auchlochan buildings stand in over 50 acres of charming grounds which are situated at the heart of the estate. The estate itself extends to several thousand acres. The legacy of the estate extends well beyond the historic nature of the buildings and their interiors; the planned parkland setting, a bequest of the Victorian era, contains numerous stately trees merging into mature woodland, particularly along the river valley. A number of Lochs exist in close proximity to the estate’s buildings enhancing the natural surroundings.

The assignment brief includes both interior and exterior photography and will take place over a number of days.

“The opportunity to photograph an estate of such magnitude with such a rich history has really captured our imaginations. The logistics of the project are non-trivial, given that the estate is so large, which is why we have allocated what we hope to be an ample amount of time so that we can ensure good coverage. The exterior gardens, woodland, lochs and buildings speak for themselves and the interiors promise to deliver some magnificent spaces which we can’t wait to start photographing.”

The shoot will take place in early January 2009.
