Adobe acquires Pixmantec

Well, this has caught me by surprise. Adobe have acquired Pixmantec, the image software company that created RawShooter Premium and RawShooter Essentials RAW processing software.

UPDATE: And Microsoft acquires iView.

Many, too many

My most recent stills image is up. Like I said in the post I thought long and hard about showing this due to it being “a bit out there” and of a somewhat personal nature. I’m not going to go into the small story behind the shot and the presentation right now because I am curious as to what the group reaction will be without too much contamination. There is an intent to solicit a particular type of reaction on my part, the same reaction I had when……..well, that would be telling.

Project – England WC2006

I’ve started a new project. It’s a photographic documentary of England during the 2006 World Cup. The project is not specifically about the football tournament but instead concentrates on the increased use of the Cross of St. George etc. as an outlet through which people in England have decided to show their support. I suppose this project is social in nature.

It’s pretty phenomenal really, the quantity of flags and similar symbols of support that have been deployed throughout the country and it seems to have happened in an organic fashion without any coercion of any sorts. One day no flags, the next a couple, then a few more and now they are everywhere.

This is not intended as art. The shots are often raw. Messy, untidy. They are what they are.

I can’t help feeling that this is one of those moments in time and by that I do not mean that I think England will win the World Cup.

The documentary images can be found here. They are also linked to from the main page of this site.

I have no idea how extensive the archive will be.

Birds!

If you’ve not paid a visit to the BirdBlog over at auspiciousdragon yet you are missing out on a real treat. Lots of birds doing what birds do in a very fluid fashion.
